(PRLeap.com) 25 Years in the Jungles, a new book by D. Richard Hood, has been released by Dorrance Publishing Co., Inc.

About the Book

25 Years in the Jungles is D. Richard Hood's story of living in the Peten jungles of Northern Guatemala and how he survived living off the grid, forty miles from the closest town via the Passion River. The closest road, forty miles upriver, would be the trading post for any supplies. Richard lived off the land (and water) as an independent missionary, bathing in the river, the only place to do so. Since Richard grew up in the Ozark mountains of Missouri and Ark, where he learned to hunt, fish, and trap, this proved to be not only beneficial but lifesaving. Come join him on his adventures.

About the Author

Growing up in the Ozark mountains of Missouri and Ark turned out to be not only fun but valuable in so many ways for D. Richard Hood. Hunting, fishing, and trapping saved his life in the jungles of Guatemala, though he would learn to shoot, catch, trap, and eat many critters that he had never seen or even heard about. He became a ham radio operator while in Guatemala because there were no phones or even electricity, and the radio worked from battery power.

25 Years in the Jungle is a 166-page hardcover with a retail price of $29.00 (eBook $24.00). The ISBN is 979-8-89127-284-2. It was published by Dorrance Publishing Co., Inc. of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. For members of the press, to request a review copy or author interview, please visit
